Cross-institutional study

What is cross-institutional study? It's an arrangement that allows you to study a subject at Charles Sturt even if you're enrolled at another university – and the subject will count towards your degree.

From agriculture to aged care, communication to computing, and education to environmental science, we offer a diverse range of subjects, so you can follow your passion, even if its not available at your uni.

Most subjects are available online, some have an on-campus option – and whichever you choose, you'll be fully supported along the way.

How to apply for cross-institutional study

Step 1

Find your subject

Explore our range of subjects. When you find the right one, just make sure it's available in the session you want to study.

Step 2

Check your eligibility

Generally, if you're enrolled as a Commonwealth supported or domestic fee-paying student at any Australian uni, you're eligible. If you're an international student, you need to apply for single subject study, rather than cross-institutional study. If in doubt, get in touch.

Step 3

Contact your university

You'll need written confirmation from your uni stating that the subject(s) you want to study with us – and any coursework it includes – will be credited towards your current degree.

Step 4

Apply online

When you apply online, you'll need to upload these documents:

  • the confirmation letter from your uni (see step 3).
  • a copy of your Commonwealth Assistance Notice (CAN).
  • a copy of your most recent academic transcript, if the subject you want to study has any prerequisites.
